The SkiA Ski Trainer was first launched in 2012, and is now being sold worldwide.
SkiA is working with instructors’ associations in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Poland and Germany, and with world-class ski schools in many of these countries.
The concept for the design was inspired by and based upon training principles developed by the British ski trainer and ski author Hugh Monney
Formerly a research chemist for the Cancer Research Campaign, Hugh has a degree in Chemistry and a Master’s research degree. He spent 10 years in the science departments of British universities before switching to a career in skiing.
Hugh runs advanced skiing clinics and off-piste courses in the Alps, as well as Heliski adventures across the globe, having previously trained thousands of skiers and hundreds of ski instructors.
He was a Trainer and Examiner of instructors for the British Association of Snowsports Instructors (BASI) for 22 years, from 1989 to 2011. During this time, he contributed significantly to the development of BASI's system of instructor training, which is internationally recognised and widely acclaimed.
He represented Britain as a member of the GB Demonstration Team, at the 1991 Interski Congress, in St Anton.
For many years, Hugh was invited to train British Mountain Guides in off-piste skiing performance.
Hugh wrote and presented the Channel 4 TV series "The Complete Skier"
In 1991 he founded the British Alpine Ski School. The BASS Network of elite snowsports schools now extends to 11 resorts across the Alps.
He wrote ‘Ski Performance Breakthrough’, a book on the 'Science of Skiing and the Art of Performance' in 2010. The book used a blend of rigorous science and extensive practical experience to present the most important secrets of ski performance. Three print runs sold out. It has since been reissued as a series of Kindle books, now available on Amazon.

It is now widely acclaimed as an ‘essential tool for every serious skier at every level’
